  Dimitra Chronopoulos
There once was a girl who loved to read. She thought she might grow up to be a writer, but along the way she discovered editing. And it was wonderful. Part art, part science, and all judgment. An opportunity to impose order, to enhance clarity, and above all, to always be learning something new. Not just about language, but about everything — from math, science, and pedagogy to African art and Canadian history.

For many years, the now–young woman worked in-house for a publisher. She was organized and diligent; an initiator, a cheerleader, and a devoted user of checklists, sticky notes, and spreadsheets. Eventually, she became a freelance editor and project manager, working with different teams on projects for different audiences.

She liked editing and she did it well, and working from home gave her an opportunity to volunteer more. And that's when she discovered an aptitude for event planning. Coordinating events for the professional association she belonged to drew on her organizational and communication skills, brought the satisfaction of creation and completion, and involved more interaction with people. THIS, she thought, could be my second career.

And so it was that the not-so-young woman began studying event and meeting management, volunteering more, and identifying organizations and people she might want to work with in future. She also started teaching Sunday school, and that, well... that's her favourite thing of all.

Today, she edits, teaches, manages volunteers, and studies theology.

And the story continues.
